Dave’s Story

One of our residents at our Verdant Lane scheme, Dave*, had a tenancy that was at risk because he was not able to sustain a healthy standard of living in terms of cleanliness and tidiness, which represented a health and safety hazard for both himself and the property.

Recently he received a notice to quit, but with the condition that if he was able to improve his living conditions within the following 28 days, then the NTQ would be cancelled.

Since then, he has worked very closely with his key worker at Quo Vadis Trust, Lily, and his room has been kept clean and tidy, in a way that it never was before.

Dave really appreciated Lily’s support and living in Verdant Lane, so he worked hard to maintain his tenancy. With his confidence boosted, Dave has also since gone the extra mile, getting involved in the cleaning of the house, garden, windows and courtyard.

Staff celebrated his success buying a cake and a card for him, and he rightly felt proud of his achievement.

Dave says: “QVT has helped me to clean(my room and kitchen) and to ensure I have a shower…QVT staff have helped me by being there for me… I really enjoy Lucy’s cooking in the healthy eating sessions, and I look forward to a trip to the beach in the future”
