Dear Clients

Response to the Coronavirus (Covid-19) Pandemic

The situation with the Coronavirus/Covid-19 is changing quickly, so we will keep our response to this situation under constant review and we suggest that you visit our website regularly.

What we are doing

Quo Vadis Trust is following official guidance about coronavirus (COVID-19).

  • A handwashing regime and guidance on this for clients, staff and visitors
  • A cleaning regime for all accommodation
  • An approach to supporting people who are suspected of having COVID-19.

In addition we are providing clients with PHE information in different ways, for example letter, telephone calls and via our website.

We are also working with partners including local councils to implement the guidance and keep people safe.

Ingrid Tennessee, Quo Vadis Trust’s Chief Executive, said: “The welfare of our clients and staff is our top priority and we are monitoring the situation daily and adjusting our procedures accordingly where appropriate. We are doing all we can to keep our clients and our staff informed and as safe as possible.”

How we are supporting our staff

Quo Vadis Trust is closely following the advice of the Government and PHE about coronavirus and are keeping our staff updated daily with new information. We will pay our staff who need to self-isolate, even if they are not usually entitled to sick pay. We have encouraged as many staff as we can to work from home where possible in order to help prevent the spread of infection.

We know the minimum staffing levels required to keep our services running, which will help if/when more people need to self-isolate and when schools close and this has an impact on our frontline staff’s ability to come into work.

Follow the latest advice

We’re advising customers and colleagues to follow advice on how to prevent or minimise the spread of coronavirus from authenticated sources of information, including the NHS and Public Health England. In addition, colleagues working in our care home are following advice from the Care Quality Commission, the independent regulator of health and social care in England. You can also find the latest news and advice on the government’s website here

Coronavirus hasn’t impacted on the services we provide, however we have had to make some changes to the way we deliver those services so that we can ensure customers and staff are protected, and essential services are maintained if the current outbreak continues to grow. These changes are to minimise the need for travel and personal contact. Our aim will be to prioritise the delivery of services that are health and safety related.

The aims of these changes are to:

  • Ensure the safety of our clients, contractors and employees;
  • Act on the Government’s/Public Health England’s guidance and do our part to delay the spread of the Coronavirus. This guidance can be found here;
  • Keep key services going during these very challenging times.

When you contact us we will ask you a few basic questions in relation to the Coronavirus/Covid-19 to ensure we maintain both your safety and that of any Quo Vadis Trust employee or contractor who visits your home.

The key parts of the measures introduced by the government are to reduce social contact and the need to avoid non-essential travel. To achieve this as far as possible, many of Quo Vadis Trust’s employees will be working from home. We will cancel any face-to-face meetings and gatherings but we may, where possible, hold these meetings by other means.

We kindly ask that you do not visit QVT’s office unless you have an appointment. If you have any concerns about this, please call your housing officer to talk it through, or contact our team on 0208 778 4546 and they will be able to advise you further.

It’s important that you continue to pay your rent and service charge as we rely on this income to fund vital services and essential repairs and maintenance. We do realise, however, that clients in employment may be affected by coronavirus, especially if you’re self-isolating and not able to work. If you find yourself in that situation, please get in touch as soon as you can so we can discuss your circumstances and offer you all the advice and support we can to get through this uncertain time.  You can contact your housing officer in the usual way or contact us on 0208 778 4546 or at

During this challenging period, responses to enquiries may sometimes be delayed due to potential staff absences, but Quo Vadis Trust will try to minimise delays and so your patience and cooperation will be appreciated.

Reporting repairs

We are still delivering our normal repairs service at the moment, but this is likely to move to an emergency-only service in the coming weeks.  You may also notice some changes when you book an appointment – this is so that we can take steps to keep you, your neighbours and our staff safe.

When you call your key worker to report a maintenance issue, we’ll ask if you or anyone in your home is currently self-isolating or if they are experiencing any Coronavirus symptoms.

We may call ahead of a scheduled visit to see if anyone in your home is currently experiencing any symptoms.

If you or someone in your home is experiencing symptoms or is self-isolating, we will ask you to wait until you have self-isolated for at least 14 days and fully recovered. At this time you’ll be able to rebook your repair.

If you are booking an emergency repair, we will still carry out the repair but our operatives will be wearing extra protective equipment. This is to ensure our staff and you remain safe, and will help us reduce the spread of the virus.

We will continue to carry out all health and safety-related works such as: fire risk assessments and all remedial works that arise from these assessments; gas safety checks; legionella testing; communal electrical checks etc.

All routine repairs and disrepair cases that are already in progress will be completed as far as is possible, depending on our contractor’s availability to respond to our requests. Please bear with us and try to keep your requests to emergency issues only

If Quo Vadis Trust’s employees or its contractors were to visit your home, they will wear protective clothing and take extra precautions for both your safety and theirs. Quo Vadis Trust and its contractors will not send anyone who is sick or has been confirmed to have the Coronavirus or Covid-19.

In terms of housing management, we will again be prioritising health and safety work, especially around fire risk actions and accommodation based health and safety checks. In terms of other services we will seek to deliver these via the telephone wherever possible.

Visiting our care and support schemes

We are asking that, until further notice, only family members or carers visit clients living in our care and support schemes. We politely and respectfully request that all visitors wash their hands for 20 seconds with soap and hot water on arrival at any scheme.

If you’re ill or self-isolating

If you think you may have coronavirus or have travelled to an affected area, we would ask that you don’t visit us in person, and instead get in touch by calling us on 0208 778 4546 or
