Yesterday, Verdant Lane hosted a heartwarming celebration in honour of its dedicated volunteers. The event brought together volunteers, students, and peer workers to recognise their unwavering commitment and invaluable contributions to the community.
The day was filled with joy and camaraderie as attendees participated in various activities, including workshops, reflections on their volunteering experiences, and discussions about the challenges and achievements they encountered along the way. It was truly inspiring to hear everyone’s stories and insights, highlighting the profound impact of volunteerism on both individuals and the community as a whole!

An award ceremony served as a highlight of the event, where each volunteer was presented with a certificate and a small token of appreciation. With 17 volunteers in attendance, the atmosphere was filled with emotions as some bid farewell to their volunteering journey, whilst others embarked on theirs with enthusiasm and anticipation.

The celebration also featured a delightful spread of food, ranging from pizzas to fresh fruits and mocktails, adding to the festive ambiance of the occasion. Lucyana Cierniak, QVT Client Development Manager, ran a presentation, sharing pictures and information about the amazing work carried out by volunteers since 2016.

Marika Lucisano , Head of Care and Support Services at QVT, expressed her gratitude to the volunteers for their invaluable contributions in running the service and supporting clients, emphasising the importance of volunteers in instilling hope, trust, and a sense of purpose in the clients they serve at our charity, and in supporting QVT to reach the mission of support the clients’ recovery, maximise independence and build better communities.

Additionally, QVT CEO, Ingrid Tennessee, joined our celebration and shared her personal experiences during a workshop session, where attendees reflected on the core values of volunteerism, such as empathy, compassion, and the importance of community.

QVT’s Volunteer Week celebration was not only a tribute to the volunteers, but also a testament to the power of collective action in helping to create a supportive and inclusive community. As we continue to honour the dedication of our volunteers, we are reminded of the transformative impact they have on the lives of others, leaving a lasting legacy of compassion and kindness.
