At QVT, we’re proud to spotlight the incredible journeys of our team—and few are as inspiring as Claudette’s. Starting as a Supported Housing Officer, Claudette has steadily risen through the ranks thanks to her compassion, professionalism, and the deep care she shows for both her colleagues and the clients she supports. Now recently promoted to Housing Manager, she brings a strong sense of purpose and a clear vision to her new role.
In this interview, Claudette shares her reflections on leadership, the lessons she’s learned, and her hopes for the future at QVT!
1. Claudette, you’ve had a remarkable journey at QVT, and now progressing to Housing Manager. Can you share a bit about your career path with us and what led you to take on this new role?
I began my journey as a Supported Housing Officer, a role I was truly grateful for. I’ve always enjoyed helping others, and this position gave me a great opportunity to do just that. My manager at the time recognised my caring nature and professionalism, and he nominated me for a senior role. Later, when the manager position became available, several colleagues encouraged me to apply. They told me that, based on how I carried out my responsibilities, they believed I had the qualities of a strong leader. I listened to their support and took the leap—and that’s what led me to where I am today. One important lesson I’ve learned along the way is how powerful it is to have others believe in you.
2. Looking back on your time at QVT, what have been some of the most rewarding experiences that have shaped your growth within the organisation?
I’ve come to realise just how impactful this role can be in changing the lives of others. I once supported a client who made significant progress as a result of my intervention, and that experience truly opened my eyes to the difference I can make. It reminded me that even small actions can have a lasting impact on someone’s life, and it strengthened my commitment to this work.
3. What do you feel has been the most exciting aspect of transitioning into the Housing Manager role? Are there any challenges you’re excited to tackle?
The transition from Senior to Manager presents an exciting opportunity for me to help shape and develop the team. I believe that by building an effective, motivated, and well-supported team, we can not only achieve our full potential but also deliver even better outcomes for the clients we serve.
4. What are you most passionate about in your new role as Housing Manager, and how do you hope to make a difference for the charity through your work?
I’m passionate about building a strong, unified team where every member feels valued and empowered. I believe that when staff feel supported and inspired, it reflects in the quality of support we provide to clients. I hope to create a learning and collaborative environment where staff are free to express themselves. Additionally, I feel that our clients will also benefit. Our clients would feel seen, heard, and supported. Housing is more than just a roof—it’s the foundation for someone’s stability, growth, and well-being.
5. Looking forward, what are you most excited about achieving in the next few years at QVT?
I am looking forward to having one of the strongest and effective staff team in the company with a high success rate of client achieving their goals.
