Quo Vadis Trust (QVT) is proud to announce that we have officially achieved the prestigious ‘Pledge Pioneer’ status under the LGBTQ+ Housing Pledge scheme (formally known as the HouseProud Pledge). This significant milestone is a testament to our charity’s ongoing commitment to promoting LGBTQ+ equality, inclusivity and support within our supported housing services. The LGBTQ+ Housing Pledge provides a framework for housing providers like QVT to collaborate with LGBTQ+ residents, ensuring their voices are heard and ensuring meaningful actions that advance LGBTQ+ equality in social housing.
What Is the LGBTQ+ Housing Pledge?
The LGBTQ+ Housing Pledge is designed to help housing providers work closely with LGBTQ+ residents and demonstrate a clear commitment to their well-being. By joining this initiative, we have committed to making our services more inclusive and responsive to the needs of LGBTQ+ individuals. It provides a structured approach for housing providers and involved residents to take action together, building stronger and more supportive communities for all.
Achieving ‘Pledge Pioneer’ status is an important recognition of our efforts. The criteria to attain this accreditation requires a proactive, inclusive approach that embeds LGBTQ+ visibility and equality into the heart of our charity. We have worked diligently over the past year to fulfil these key commitments to achieve ‘Pioneer’ status.
Achieving ‘Pledge Pioneer’ status is a major accomplishment for QVT, but more importantly, it highlights our ongoing commitment to inclusivity. By reaching this milestone, we are not only creating a safer, more welcoming environment for LGBTQ+ residents but also contributing to the wider movement for LGBTQ+ equality in social housing.
Achieving Pledge Pioneer status means that we’ve achieved substantial progress in delivering three core commitments:
- We’ve formal arrangements in place to consult with LGBT+ residents
- We’ve visibly promoted our commitment to LGBT+ resident inclusivity
- We’ve initiated a programme of staff training to improve understanding of LGBT+ resident lives
