Mayor’s Award for Volunteering (Lewisham)

Earlier this year, Lewisham Council launched a new Mayor’s Award for Volunteering. This award is designed to recognise people, community projects and businesses who volunteer in Lewisham.

Quo Vadis Trust nominated three people within the Volunteers & Individuals category, and we were really pleased when one of these volunteers, Rob Morrison, told us that he’d been shortlisted. We also received a nomination ourselves in the Organisations & Businesses category.

On Friday 24 November 2017, Ingrid Tennessee and Rob Morrison attended the ceremony which was held in the Civic Suite in Catford. During the ceremony, Lewisham Council commended 96 nominees for their voluntary work and went on to award just four special category awards. We were absolutely delighted when Rob was announced as the winner in his category!

Rob has offered his personal lived experience as a platform to launch a peer support group at one of our sites. Among the outcomes achieved through Rob’s selfless efforts are clients planning and preparing their own meals and engaging in community based activities, thereby sustaining a social network in their setting. They also host regular group activities which lessen boredom and offer structure to their days and improved wellbeing. This award is very well-deserved. Congratulations Rob! We are so proud to have you on our team.

QVT’s team work very hard to achieve our purpose and mission: to provide our clients with safe and comfortable accommodation, effective housing management services and a holistic approach to their wellbeing. We couldn’t do this without our hardworking and dedicated volunteers, placement students and staff.
