As part of World Mental Health Day on 10th October 2017, LMHC (Lewisham Mental Health Connection) hosted their annual conference at the Civic Suite in Catford. LMHC is a collaboration of providers of Mental Health services in the borough of Lewisham working together to deliver support and signpost to sources of advice in the local community. The theme for the 2017 conference was “Building Your Foundation; Your Journey to Employment.

 The event was funded by QVT, Hexagon & APAX and supported by Cllr Jonathon Slater. Partners of LMHC organising the event included Community Connections, Metropolitan Police, DWP, Bromley & Lewisham MIND, Certitude & the Lewisham Pensioners Forum.

There were various workshops, presentations and opportunities to network and seek advice throughout the afternoon. Highlights included a presentation from the Department of Work & Pensions on “Supporting Claimants with Mental Health Issues Towards Full Employment”, while QVT’s Lucy Cierniak delivered an “Art Therapy” workshop and Martin Drake hosted a discussion on “Empowerment for Decision Making & Self Esteem”.
